Regional multipliers are editorial planning factors for broad differences in labour, contractor demand, logistics and code complexity. They are not measured city price indices and do not replace a site visit. City selection makes the estimate easier to identify and remember; state or UK-region pricing provides the calculation adjustment.

Why the calculator stops at state or region
Contractor prices can differ inside one city because access, property type, specification and workload matter more than a postcode label. Publishing hundreds of near-identical city pages would imply evidence the calculator does not have. HomeProjects.money therefore uses one transparent state or UK-region factor, names the selected city in the result and directs the homeowner to local written quotations for the final test.
Changing country resets the whole context, including currency and units. Changing city inside the same state or region does not change the numeric result. This avoids false precision while keeping the budget labelled for the market where the work is planned.
